Allison Connors Bio
Due to her mother’s influence, Allison has been involved with crafts all of her life. She also developed a love of creative writing in high school—being published with poems and stories in the school’s annual publication. Scrapbooking helped Allison put these two skills together…and for her, that was the beginning of an interesting turn in her life.
After working as a Registered Nurse for 17 years, Allison decided she needed something different. So in July 1999 along with her husband Tom, they opened the first scrapbooking store on Long Island in New York (Scrapbook Alley, Ltd.). Together they worked for five years bringing the love and art of scrapbooking to the New York community and finally closing their retail doors in August 2004, only to find themselves branching out in other ways within the scrapbooking world.
Since opening and closing the scrapbook store, Allison has written two books about quilling in your scrapbooks. The first book Creative Quilling for Scrapbooks, co-authored by Allison and the second book Twist it, Twirl It, Tie It, Curl It. Since writing the books, Allison has taught the art of quilling at the Memory Expo, Creating Keepsakes University and at various scrapbook stores around the country. Allison has also been a guest on DIY Scrapbooking numerous times teaching quilling and many other aspects of scrapbooking in both seasons two and three.
In the fall of 2003, Allison’s product line Quilling Quirks™ debuted with Creative Imaginations at Memory Trends. Soon after Memory Trends 2003, Allison became the Editor of Scrapbooking.com Magazine as well as a designer for the same publication; writing many articles and teaching the art of scrapbooking and paper crafting to the wider population.
In February 2005, Allison’s product line with Creative Imaginations took on her own name; allison connors™. Her line of 3D embellishments continues to grow with every trade show and can be found in countless scrapbooking and craft stores around the country and overseas. During the winter of 2004-2005 and the spring of 2005, Allison was added to two design teams—Janlynn and Little Black Dress Designs. Her design work appears at trade shows, on packaging and in publications.
Allison continues to teach scrapbooking at her local scrapbook store, but also wanted to reach out to help people again using her trained profession. So, Allison is back after a brief hiatus working as a Registered Nurse. She spends three to four days a week working in a Plastic Surgeon’s office and a Pediatrician’s Office. The rest of her time is spent having fun with her family, working on her product line, scrapbooking, writing and volunteering time at church.
